The Society for Biofactors was founded in 1994. It is exclusively a non-profit-making organisation.

The activities of the Society for Biofactors are aimed at both experts and laypersons. It evaluates research results, prepares well-founded statements on current issues in the field of biofactors, organizes an annual GfB-Symposium and comments on congresses.
The non-profit organization exchanges information and experience with specialist groups. It works together with doctors, pharmacists, nutritionists, clinics, universities, associations, diagnostic facilities, alternative practitioners, healing professions, self-help groups, publishers and the pharmaceutical industry.
